Maybe science has a few ideas on this one, but overall, menstrual synchrony is still one of my personal favorite little mysteries. Further intriguing since I learned that in Hawaii its customary for ladies to adorn themselves with a white or red flower, depending on where they are in their cycle. Additional information such as marital status can be gleaned by which side of the ear the flower is tucked. Maybe its TMI for our society, but I love the subtle communication with flowers. Plus, getting to wear a red flower is a nice consolation prize considering what the week has in store for you.

I didn’t realize until half way through this illustration that I had created another cephalopod tea party.
I couldn’t decide which color version to upload- I’m leaning towards the peach colored one- but I sort of like the black and white backgrounds too. What do you guys think?

This one I did mostly in my sketchbook, but in the end, I couldn’t resist Photoshop.

I recently came across this gem of a book- Song of Robin Hood, Illustrated by Virginia Lee Burton.
First edition, 1947- Score!

(Its rather amazing)
Though probably better known for her children’s book illustrations, including but not limited to:
The Little House, Katy and the Big Snow and Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel – I was
blown away by her artwork and the overall design of this book.

Song of Robin Hood is absolutely decked out cover to cover with her intricate pen and ink and scratch board
illustrations. The typography is also gorgeous, and even more mind boggling when you consider that it was
drawn at actual size.

I scanned in a few more pages, which you can see here.

Really into drawing teeth lately-

Process:
1. draw teeth.
2. sew on graph paper from cut up notebook.
3. make into city.
4. drink green tea
5. realize you sewed your pages together.
6. speculate about what might be under the city.
7. eat cookies.
8. scan it!
9. rip out the stitches.

I have been told that my totem animal in the chipmunk, but I would rather be a brontosaurus*, unicorn or octopus.
* Even though the Brontosaurus technically was paleontological faux pas, its still my favorite dinosaur – go go thunder lizard!
